The village comprises a number of old houses. Rocks engraved with drawings of camels and other animals dating back to 2,000 years BC were found in the area.

The Fortress is part of a heritage village nestled deep in the mountains The project is part of a wider plan to transform the area into one of the UAE’s leading tourist attractions. Najd Al Maqsar village was reconstructed as a part of tourism development and to preserve the archaeological sites. A viewpoint area was also built so the visitors can also enjoy the view of farm lands surrounding the Fortress area. It is made up of a number of old houses and rocks engraved with drawings of camels and other animals dating back thousands of years. The village provides a glimpse into the history and culture of the region, giving visitors an opportunity to experience traditional life in Najd. Visitors can explore the ancient architecture, learn about local customs and traditions, and observe how people lived centuries ago.
